Blazing Boriana and Speedy Shenna bring it in to the finish. (All the guys stopped talking and intently watched the drama unfold....uh, yeah.) |
Footfeathers doesn't seem to mind the heat; wonder what's in the cooler? |

Post race sweaty socializing, while Footfeathers stands alone staring at a clipboard (can you say, "introvert"?).

New member, Carla, show us how to finish a race in style.

Our first test of summer with upper 90's and high humidity. Should be a nice next three months. Still, a good number turned out for the hot run, especially the ladies who seem to actually perform better. Eimear set a new PR. Carla and Sarah braved their first exposure to our group (who are actually some of the nicest and open people around).
Boriana and Shenna tied for the women's first place. Boriana used the run as a warm up to her fastest 5k ever on Saturday, cracking the 20 minute barrier with a 19:42! Sweet job, Boriana. Scandal in the form of cutting the course once again taints the men's race with Chris Lamperski coming across the line in a scorching time of 23:52. 50 push ups await the young Mr. Lamperski next Thursday.
Next week, June 12th, will be Footfeathers' last time as the regular race director of the Thursday Night Run. Jay Holder, Brad Popple, and others will take over management of the run with Courtney Clark handling the post race data entry and sorting of times (yes, she implied that bribes are accepted).

The frightening thing about 100 degrees are the stripping of shirts and ensuing post race hugs. The Thursday night run is for all abilities and open to everyone (well, almost everyone). Come out and enjoy the free timed run the free food and bottled water, the great give-aways, and all the nice people you'll meet. The only requirement is that you bring or buy a beer for the Race Director at some point.
Thursday Night Race Head Quarters, complete with the traditional "Dept. of Peace" water cooler. |

Carla and Michelle discuss the potential of hot guys at the run (the guys made me write that). |

5 bonus points for every new person (must have a pulse) you bring to the run, 6 points if it's a girl (7 if she's single).
