Sharksbite Thursday Night Run

Charlotte Running Company 4.44 Miles

Ryan and Eimear enjoy a good laugh before the start (likely at the Race Director's expense).

Local road speedster, Bill Shires brings it in for the win in his first Sharksbite Thursday night run ever!

Clipboard in hand, Footfeathers times the run from the comfort, and dryness, of Sharksbite headquarters (truck).

The first rainy Thursday in many weeks brought out new participants while keeping the girly participants home.  The result was two new winners of our little Thursday run.  Even with the rain (which was actually very nice and actually stopped half way through the run), twenty seven people came out to enjoy some exercise and socializing.

Bill Shires showed up in his high tech compression outfit; I guess it helped compress his time, because he dominated the field for the overall victory.  He later said, to Footfeathers' delight, that it was the hardest course he's ever run in Charlotte (makes my heart warm with pride).

On the women's side, Eimear was poised to regain her champion title as she was the only female who showed up on time.  Unfortunately for her, Shenna Kevorkian bounded in about one minute after the official start and began her pursuit.  Had she started with everyone on time, the course record would have been hers by a comfortable margin.  She managed to catch Eimear and, as seen in the photo below, won by a few seconds for this week's title.

Co-Race Director, Todd Patterson went missing on or about Thursday morning.  It's presumed he picked up where Footfeathers left off in the hunt for Bradley Popple.

**By the way, thank you, Eimear, for the microbrew beers.  I'll put them to good use.  You are my current favorite Sharksbite Member.

Shenna comes in with the victory.  She was able to cool down afterwards by watching reruns of Seinfeld on her wrist-top television.

The Thursday night run is for all abilities and open to everyone (well, almost everyone).  Come out and enjoy the free timed run the free food and bottled water, the great give-aways, and all the nice people you'll meet.  The only requirement is that you bring or buy a beer for the Race Director at some point.

Photos by Jim Payne.

Jim joined us again tonight to take some of his great photos.  He has refined the still portraits and landscapes, but was new to "action" shots; I believe he's getting the hang of it now.  I've linked it so you can see his other photography.  To get to our runs, just scroll down to the "Running" gallery.  He's set it up so anyone may download the high res originals for his/her own personal use.  Next time you see Jim, thank him.

Left, right, left, do-se-do...

Paul Martino and Eimear trade war stories while Footfeathers sits in his truck recording finish times.  Looks like the old Colorado plates will be coming in handy soon.

5 bonus points for every new person (must have a pulse) you bring to the run, 6 points if it's a girl (7 if she's single).
