With Footfeathers off in search of the young Brad Popple, Todd P. takes charge as Race Director, and, from all accounts, did a super job.
*Advertisement* - The Ramble takes place May 17th at 9:00AM. Information and registration may be found at www.trailevents.com |
Another happy participant (Bruce Wagoner) |

Photo from jail booking. Apparently it wasn't enough just to write the course directions on his arm...
This empty bed is all Footfeaters found when reaching the location of Mr. Popple's last known night in his cell. Brad was later spotted trying to organize a Thursday night race after seeing this sign:

A phone call awoke Footfeathers from a deep sleep at 3AM. It was a frantic voice, speaking in cracking whispers. "Footfeathers, Brad has run from home. He was ashamed for losing his way on your Sharksbite run the first week, and never fully recovered." The voice said. The only other information given was that Brad crossed the border somewhere along the Rio Grande.
Never wanting to lose a running club member, Footfeathers quickly packed a small bag of Clif Bars and a hair pick for Mr. Popple, and was on his way. It's been a week now and the only evidence of either of them are the photos sent from Footfeathers' phone to the person calling concerned and scared (left).
With Footfeathers deep in the Mexican underworld, Todd Patterson and Jim Payne took charge of the Thursday night run, doing a admirable job.
Newcomer, Aaron Linz didn't waste any time dominating the run in Mr. Popple's absence. On the women's side, Boriana Bakaltchiva came to her first Sharksbite run and promptly set a new course record at 32:59, which is fairly pedestrian for her.
Speedy, Aaron Linz takes a decisive victory in his first Sharksbite Thursday Night Run. With his headband (circa 1977) he finished the night with some Richard Simmons inspired stretches.
The Thursday night run is for all abilities and open to everyone (well, almost everyone). Come out and enjoy the free timed run the free food and bottled water, the great give-aways, and all the nice people you'll meet. The only requirement is that you bring or buy a beer for the Race Director at some point. Photos by Jim Payne. Jim joined us again tonight to take some of his great photos. He has refined the still portraits and landscapes, but was new to "action" shots; I believe he's getting the hang of it now. I've linked it so you can see his other photography. To get to our runs, just scroll down to the "Running" gallery. He's set it up so anyone may download the high res originals for his/her own personal use. Next time you see Jim, thank him.

Tragedy was averted when Katie Collins tried to run the remaining steps to the finish with husband, Mike and their dog "Snapper". Things were fine until Mike tried to pass Snapper and nearly lost a hand. Animal Control was called, but with Katie holding the spiked collar and Mike gripping the beast's neck, they were able to control the situation. (just kidding, dogs are welcome to the run)

The lovely Genia, continues to practice running with her eyes closed. |

It's great to see Anna Parker back out. She's been sidelined from running with a stress fracture since March, and will begin her ride across the US next week.
5 bonus points for every new person (must have a pulse) you bring to the run, 6 points if it's a girl (7 if she's single).
