Pippit k9 5k Trail Run

June 16, 2007

The Pippit k9 5k brought together some nice folks and their happy dogs.  Stan Austin and Wendy Williams dominated the human field.  Pippit made his move after being released from his leash and anchor (owner) and proceeded to pick places off until finally catapulting through the finish arch with a respectable time.  It was later learned that Pippit may have cut the course slightly to chase down another delinquent participant and was thus moved to last place in the canine division.  We all enjoyed some snacks and drinks along with the awards.

The small event this year raised $124 dollars for the Human Society of Charlotte.  Pippit dug through his owners wallet for an extra $26 to make it a respectable $150, which we will give to the society on Wed of this week.  The Charlotte Humane Society relies on the kind volunteers who work there and donations to purchase important items that are always needed.  The poor animals that are abandoned there are at least fortunate in regards to ending up in such caring hands.  Please visit them sometime, even if it's just to take a couple of the dogs who've been there a long time out in a pen and play with them or to hold and pet one of the affectionate-hungry cats and kittens.  You could never understand the impact it has on them (and maybe you).

Thanks, Tim
